In order to gain new valuable information regarding generated hydrocarbons in the East Java Sea area, two separate surface geochemical programs are proposed. Samples will be collected from locations selected from seismic; to identify seeped hydrocarbons in the area. SGS and PetroConsult in cooperation with P.T. Komaritim and Migas propose to undertake an exploration surface geochemistry survey over the area in the East Java Sea proposed below. For information on this survey please email Ian Reid here.

Long time client of PetroConsult Pty Ltd, Natural Gas Australia Ltd, advised shareholders that it has given notice to Shell Development Australia and Osaka Gas that it has accepted Shell's offer to purchase the 25% interest in NT/P47 and NT/P48 by pre-empting the sale of those interests by Shell. The purchase of this further interest will increase their interest in the substantial Evans Shoal Gasfield in the Australian Sector of the Timor Sea to up to 40% interest. In addition, a Scheme Implementation Agreement has been entered into with Santos whereby a merger proposal will be submitted to the shareholders and optionholders of Natural Gas Australia for their approval.

PetroConsult Pty Ltd, under contract to the Victorian Department of Natural Resources and Environment, has recently assisted in a study into the prospectivity of the offshore Otway Basin. The study is the second undertaken with the department and reinforces our close relationship and expertise in the Otway Basin. the report covers the release areas V01-1, 2 & 3 located in the Voluta Trough. The two reports, available from the department are entitled:

The study undertaken in 1998 identified a number of Waarre structures in the Shipwreck Trough, including one later named Geographe by operator Woodside. Geographe (Vic/P43) and Thylacine (in Tasmanian permit T/30P) were delineated by the Investigator 3D after permits were awarded to a joint venture operated by Woodside. Both prospects are to be drilled in a campaign shortly.

Alliances

PetroConsult is now able to offer integrated charge modelling and hydrocarbon detection through alliances with Geotrack International, Resource Management (Australia) and Surface Geochemical Services AS (Norway). Geotrack International is the world leader in AFTA and ZFTA for thermal modelling. Resource Management has extensive experience in the field of ALF data interpretation, whilst SGS is a contractor in the field of sea-bed surface sampling for geochemical anomalies.
